I place my mask over my mouth and slide my hands into the blue latex gloves. I determine that the tree is around six feet away from the older woman and so decide to stand over there. This is not some dystopian novel on the shelves of Barnes and Noble, but rather our new normal.
In this new normal, we are constantly hearing about this idea of protection. How can we protect ourselves? How can we protect those around us? Our thoughts are consumed by these questions. They keep us up at night as we toss from side to side in our beds. As we currently race to develop a vaccination, protection is all anyone can focus on.
